Cedar County is located in east central Iowa. It is named for the Cedar River, which flows through the county.
The seat and largest city is Tipton, located in the center of the county.
The county borders Jones, Clinton, Scott, Muscatine, Johnson and Linn Counties.
Main highways through the county include I-80, US-6, US-30 and IA-38.
